The Group has several meetings and activities:

 

Meetings

Topics are wide-ranging and include identification for beginners, fungal biology, as well as painting, photography and the occasional quiz.

We meet in the evenings on the 4th Thursday of the month, except June and July, in Leicester. See "Evening Programme" page for details.

Forays.

There are two foray seasons, Autumn, September to November, and Spring, April and May. During the seasons we meet most weeks, usually on Sunday at various venues. See "Foray Programme" page for details.

Newsletter.

Issued annually to members, it includes articles on identification and notes of the year’s findings.

Members are invited to contribute to the newsletter, by submitting photographs, articles and other items of interest.

Library.

A small library of books and leaflets on fungal identification, biology and general interest can be borrowed by members.

Collections.

A herbarium of the group’s dried specimens has been built up since 1980. In addition, the group’s members can access the Leicestershire Museum’s library and large collection of fungi.

Database.

We have a computer database in the Recorder package. Our records are sent to the National databases of the British Mycological Society and National Biodiversity Network for everyone to use.

Checklist.

We maintain an up-to-date list of all species that we have found.
